Writing a Screenplay? Have You Tried Celtx Yet?
By Frey | May 5, 2007
If you write screenplays and you haven’t tried Celtx yet, then you are really missing out.
Officially, it’s still not in it’s “final version 1.0″ yet, but at version 0.99.1, it’s close enough. I’ve been using Celtx for close to two years now, and I have to say it’s come quite a long way since my first try. But even then, it was a worthy enough program that I quit using the copy of Final Draft 5 that I had on my computer at the time. And now that Celtx is all grown up, with even more great features, it sure is the way to write a screenplay, and other pre-production things.
I’ve written several screenplays with Celtx at this point, including the script for The Arcturus System, a sci-fi feature we’re working on (currently in production). I couldn’t be happier spending all my hard earned money on it… Haha, just kidding. One of the greatest features about Celtx is that it’s free. Yep, FREE. You can’t beat that with a stick, a club, or even with your grandma…

Celtx is a cross-platform media application that provides support for the entire pre-production process. You can write a screenplay, do a breakdown of your project (including tag items, props, wardrobe items, or cast members with specific notes, pictures and sound files). Celtx even includes a calendar and reports feature to keep your project organized.
Celtx supports the following platforms: Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista; Mac OS X; Linux. Windows 98 users are no longer supported, but they can still download the 0.98 version of Celtx.
What are you waiting for? Download it and start writing already!
