Video Production Specialist -

Position Description:
Video Production Specialist tasks include but not limited to:
* Production assistance for video shoots (interior and exterior), including setup and breakdown of equipment and assistance with audio and lighting
* Video camera operations during shooting of lectures, single and multi-camera productions and other events
* Operation of switcher/character generator/audio board during simple productions
* Editorial services using Avid non-linear editing system to do post-production of single and multi-camera shoots. Required editorial services will include logging and digitizing raw material, synchronizing shots from various cameras, cutting among various camera angles, removing extraneous material, inserting cutaways, maintaining proper audio levels, locating important sound effects and stock footage, creating and inserting titles and keys, importing and inserting graphics, outputting completed projects to tape, and archiving completed productions. Additional editorial services will be required to create various video clips, primarily to accompany new stories on the web.
* Creating video files for publishing to web, CD, and DVD using compression software and other appropriate software tools.
* Create CDs and DVDs from video files (including simple DVD authoring) and moving files to and from the FTP sites.
* Making video dubs using videotape recording and duplicating CDs and DVDs.
* Pulling files from digital audio recorder and other sources and sending files to transcribers and other destinations.
* Setting up and operating portable public address system, including wireless microphones.
* Assisting in maintenance of video library.
* Communicating with local editing/dubbing facilities and other services
* Coordinate with scientists, engineers and others to obtain needed materials and to coordinate various aspects of productions.
* Responding to requests from producers, broadcasters and others for video footage from internal video library. Related services include telephone contact and e-mail correspondence, locating appropriate footage, making dubs, typing tape labels and shipping labels and preparing items for shipment.
* Various administrative services, including writing correspondence, making and answering inquires via telephone and e-mail, filling out forms, preparing packages for shipment.
* Additional audio and video production and post-production services may be required as well.
* MS Office Skills
While these services will usually be required during standard office hours, they will occasionally also be required evenings (minimum of one evening per month) and weekends. Some travel may be required. These are to be confirmed as requested.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher
* 1-2 years professional experience in video production and post-production
* Interest in Science and Technology
Salary & Benefits:
* $4200-$4650 per month based on experience
* 8 days of paid leave per year in addition to Federal Government holidays
* Paid Medical Insurance (after 90 days)
