Film Festival: Short Film “Assault In Brooklyn” Featured At The Baltimore Women’s Film Festival

The award winning short film ‘Assault In Brooklyn’ will be featured at the Baltimore Women’s Film Festival on October 23, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. opening night, at the Landmark Harbor East Theater located at 645 S. President Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The film was directed by Hugh Staples of That’s Entertainment Productions. The film was written and produced by Arlette Thomas-Fletcher of Fruits of The Spirit Productions www.fruitsofthespiritproductions.com. This film was shot in Baltimore, Maryland by Cinematographer Scott Preston. Brooklyn, New York footage was shot by Director of Photography Michelle Farrell of Absolute Independent Pictures. Assault In Brooklyn is a story of domestic violence and abuse. The film starts out with Marta telling the story of how she came to America with Jimmy her husband of twenty years. Suddenly, we hear through the doors the abuse she is suffering once again by her husband, but this time it’s a little different because she is fighting back. Dramatic roles were played by April Sigmon, Frank Vince, Charles Brice, Greg Coale, and Veena Datta. The Baltimore Women’s Film Festival is dedicated and focused on seeking out and promoting cinema created by and for women. This non-profit festival is held during breast cancer awareness month. 50% of all ticket sale proceeds are donated to breast cancer research and the outreach/survivorship program for Johns Hopkins breast cancer patients.
