Going from photography to cinematography can be a big and exciting step. This workshop is designed to cover the beginning steps a photographer needs in order to delve into the world of moving pictures and answer some of the questions about working with video.
This workshop is for photographers comfortable with their camera, and who are looking to take their exploration (and art) a little further.
This workshop will cover:
- Going from photography to video (cinematography)
- Cameras and lenses
- Frame rates (frames per second and shutter speed)
- Lights, lighting, shadows, and clipping
- Pulling focus and hitting the mark
- Audio
- Static shots, movement, tripods, and handheld
- Video codec limitations: 8-bit, artifacts, and moire
- Time-management
Lighting will be provided by Parlights, Inc.
The goal of the workshop is to learn how to shoot a 15 second commercial in teams of 3-4 people, evaluate setups, lights, camera movements, focus, and more.
Please bring your HDSLR (DSLR camera with High Definition video capability: Canon 5Dmk2, 7D, Nikon D300S, D5000,D90 etc…) to the workshop. If you do not have a video capable DSLR camera you can rent one from http://borrowlenses.com or borrow one from a good friend.
This is a 6 hour workshop running from 9AM until 3PM. We plan to have actors and/or other talent there.
