Canon 7D, 5DMII, or 5DMIII – which to choose?

After teaching our photography classes yesterday, my good friend Marc Weinberg and I met up and, as usual, started discussing cameras. That means the Medium Format negative is roughly 4 times the image resolution of a 35mm negative. If you’re transferring your Medium Format over to digital, you should be … Read entire article »

6 Ways To Take Great Holiday Pictures (and Videos)

What’s the biggest mistake people make when taking pictures during the holidays? Not putting forth enough effort. Just getting people in the center of the frame and hitting the button isn’t going to make good photography. In other words, pointing and shooting isn’t going to get you good photos. Good photography takes effort. So here’s a list of 6 things to help you take excellent photos this holiday season: Get down to your subject’s level. If you want the excellent shot of your child opening presents, get down to his/her eye-level (at least on your knee). The picture will be more like a portrait in this case, instead of looking down on the child. Although we look at children from above, we always enjoy sitting eye-to-eye with them and listening to their stories. This … Read entire article »
