Thursday, October 25th, 2007

If you missed out on the first half of this discussion, check out the Best Quicktime Codec For Web-Streaming? (Part 1) article, posted last week, where I talked about the best quicktime codec for webstreaming and compared MP4 to both H.264 and DiVX.
You can export MP4 out of Quicktime Pro (or FCP, Compressor, Adobe Premiere, [...]

Best Quicktime Codec For Web-Streaming? (Part 1)

Friday, October 19th, 2007

The best Quicktime codec I’ve found for both compression and general usage seems to be Quicktime’s MP4. Sure there are others, but MP4 has been supported since QT6 (released in 2002). As long as someone has a version of Quicktime newer than 5 years old (which most people do), they can watch your video.

Several 3D Applications Compared (head to head)

Monday, October 1st, 2007

I found a very good write-up (via Slashdot) that took the top 3D applications and compared them. This is one of the most comprehensive comparisons that I’ve found to date.

It didn’t catch my attention so much because it was Boeing’s newest airplane in 10 years, but because this one was made almost entirely of plastic composites (on the news, they described it as [...]

Review: Recording Stereo Sound With the Zoom H4

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I bought a Zoom H4 for doing my sound recording last week and so far I gotta say that I’m pretty happy with it. The buttons and interface are a little weird, and not very easy to get used to, but other than that, it’s not a bad recorder. I like being able to record [...]

Frederick, Westminster, & Mount Airy for Film Makers

Monday, March 19th, 2007

It’s a slow news week, so I figured I’d take a few minutes to write about three of the best kept filming secrets of Maryland.
Frederick, MD is the second largest city in the state and the capital of Frederick County (which happens to be the largest county in Maryland). Located 1 hour west from Baltimore [...]
